Olivia Rodrigo’s Biography
SOUR, her debut album, was the fastest album in history to get all of its tracks certified RIAA Platinum or higher and went quadruple platinum, setting a new standard for success.
With her new album, GUTS, Olivia Rodrigo makes a triumphant comeback, showcasing a higher level of vocal and lyrical maturity.
Each song deepens the emotional honesty that has always permeated her tale, and it was produced and co-written with her major creative partner on SOUR, Daniel Nigro.
Rodrigo broadens her range of emotional expression, revealing hitherto unexplored facets of her creativity, as demonstrated by the album’s first track, “vampire.”
Following its release, “vampire” was hailed as “Best New Track” by Pitchfork and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100, break the Spotify record for the biggest launch for a solo song in 2023, and quickly become a Top 40 smash.
After “vampire” topped the UK Official Singles Chart, Rodrigo became the only female artist in the UK this decade to have multiple No. 1 singles.
“vampire” debuted as No. 1 on the charts in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, with over 100 million total streams in its first week. The 20-year-old is the youngest performer to have three simultaneous No. 1 singles on the Hot 100.
SOUR is currently 4x Platinum in the United States, having sold over 17.9 million global album adjusted units with over 42 billion streams globally.
It was named the number one album of 2021 by Rolling Stone and one of the best albums of 2021 by The New York Times, among others.
Rodrigo became the first female artist to have 11 or more songs rank in the top 30 on Billboard’s Hot 100 at the same time.
At the 64th GRAMMY® Awards, she won three of the four major prizes (Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance) for which she was nominated.
The American Music Awards awarded Rodrigo their New Artist of the Year, Billboard recognized her as their Woman of the Year at their 2022 Women in Music Awards, and the ASCAP Pop Music Awards and Variety Hitmakers both named him their Songwriter of the Year.
